Patrick Owen is a down-to-earth and dedicated high school teacher. He usually dates teachers, and it should probably stay that way... Alex just may be way out of his league!
Teri Polo as Alex Young
Alex is a famous film star. She owns an energetic dog named Monroe and is regularly stalked by paparazzi. Alex is the proverbial 'America's Sweetheart' in the mode of Meg Ryan (for example).
Danny Comden as Stevie Johannson
Stevie is Patrick's best friend and fellow teacher. He is an aging frat boy in search of a party. Gifted with an ironic lack of principle and personal responsibility, he is giddy over his buddy's new girlfriend, which makes him the perfect id to play off Patrick's straightforward ego.
Rhea Seehorn as Cheri
Cheri is Alex's overprotective and cynical sister. She disapproves of Patrick as he is a 'civilian'.Along with being family, she's one of those snobby Hollywood assistants. While she plainly enjoys her sibling's reflected fame, she's still commonsensical enough to bring Alex back down to earth.
